Happy Days

Here is a look at the past few days....

Saturday night, I had my hair colored back to natural. It hasn't been this dark in a long time, so I am working on what clothes look best, what lipstick to wear, etc. I think I like it. :)

The cold weather has brought out some of my favorite things.... chicken and dumplings!

There is no school this week, so we set up a couple of play dates. Monday morning we picked up our buddy Michael and went to the movies and lunch.

We saw Freebirds about turkeys going back in time to get turkey off the Thanksgiving menu. It was a cute movie and the kids liked it.

Afterward, Abby let Michael pick where we had lunch and he chose Chick-fil-A. We ate, the kids played, and then we exchanged bingo for ice cream. Smart kids!

I have loved seeing all the fall colors this year. I think they are better than in the recent years... maybe all the rain? So many pretty fall trees!

We went to the grocery store on Friday and discovered our favorite holiday treat is back! Our family loves Christmas tree cakes and bought way too many boxes!

It was so cold one day this week, Abby spend the day in her jammies. At rest time, snuggled in her flannel Christmas sheets, in her princess nightgown, watching a Redbox movie, I texted this picture to Marcus. I am so thankful on a cold and wet day, Abby and I were warm at home and not at school and work.

Underneath those Christmas sheets, are the cutest little bunny slippers you've ever seen!

Hope you are having a good week, too! We are ready for Thanksgiving!

Five on Friday

1. Gingerbread is back at Starbuck's and I have one happy little girl. This is like her Pumpkin Spice Latte or red cup. Now if Little Debbie would just release Christmas Tree cakes!

2. I sent this picture to a friend this week..... I was always told not to mix brown and black, but everyone is doing it. So, I needed confirmation it worked with my outfit.

3. Daddy's girl all the way. While hanging out on Thursday afternoon, Abby was playing with all her Star Wars characters. She didn't know all of their names, but decided to rename them after books of the Bible. I don't think George Lucas had Habakkuk and Obadiah in mind.

4. Abby has a runny nose and I have a nasty cough. Fun times for us. So, today is a relaxed day at home and a trip to the doctor. Oh, and a morning Starbucks run in our jammies!

5. We took Christmas pictures and 5 year pictures on Wednesday. Here is a little preview of the birthday girl. Her headpiece makes me smile and fits her party theme perfectly!

My Funny Child

I remember when my niece and nephew were in the age Abby is in now I just loved it. I had claimed age 4-6 as my very favorite and I am so glad Abby is now in that age bracket. She makes me laugh, amazes me with how much she knows, and kills me with her determination. :)

Here are a few things she is loving right now:

She likes to make her bed. She calls it her "company bed". We don't make beds daily, just when company is coming! She always makes me take a picture of it made.

We still play with our doll house daily and enjoy having Kyleigh (she named the little girl after my niece) hanging off the side. In case she falls, Abby has the soft doll carrier waiting on the ground.

With church, preschool in a church, community Bible study and choir each week, we are all about Jesus. Abby tells Bible stories, talks about God, and sings Bible songs all day long. I love her heart for Jesus right now. We also have fun talking to Siri. Abby wanted to ask her about Jesus and her response made us laugh.

We love snuggling in the chair and watching football! I don't know if she likes football or just staying up a little late with Momma. She always wants to know who I am cheering for and then does a little cheer for them. She always cheers for the same team as me. Marcus has even taken her to 2 high school football games while I've been out of town and she has done really well. I think we are ready for a Texas Tech game next year!

Nothing beats a Popsicle for dessert no matter how cold it is outside!

Love this sweet little girl!

Super Halloween 2013

My people love super heroes so it was only natural when Abby decided to be Wonder Woman that Marcus and I raid his t-shirt stash for our "costumes"!

Abby talked about being Wonder Woman for months. She talked like her, acted like her, and even practiced her poses for weeks. She was serious about being a super hero!

I had forgotten she was Wonder Woman as a baby in daycare. We didn't want her to ruin her costume at school, so she wore a WW onesie we had bought at Fiesta Texas.

As always our neighborhood was decked out for Halloween, so we invited friends to join us.

We gave the girls some vampire teeth to play with. They were funny with them trying to be scary.

We visited about 15 homes for candy and ended with our favorite scary house. It has never scared Abby, but it frightened Addison to no end. She hated even walking past it on the other side of the street to get home.

Abby likes to pretend she is scared! :)

I was feeling nostalgic.... here is our little girl and her first four Halloweens.

And this year.... since she was so into her costume, we decided to have pictures made at Picture People. It was hard to get her to smile. She "ran" the whole photo session telling us exactly how she should stand and what she was doing.

I think she is pretty WONDERful!
