Red, White and Boom!

After dinner on Saturday night, we left Abby Lu with her grandmothers and went to our friends, John and Donna's house, for the 4th of July Blowout! To say John loves fireworks is an understatement. He spends thousands to light up the sky. The entire street has parties and all of their chairs face John's house--- hundreds of people! It is unbelievable.
We were amazed by the show last year and this year was a whole new experience. Since we were without Abby and I am not pregnant, John gave us insider tips on where to sit- directly below the fireworks! Bits of the plastic casing were raining on us (note the camping chair cover I used to protect my face- priorities!)! The smell of rubber burning engrossing our nose. It was fireworks like no other! Our friend Birchfield used his sunglasses to protect his eyes!
Some of John's friends are photographers and set up cameras pointing up right where we sat. They captured video and stills for future projects. Fireworks are always so much prettier in person than on camera. But, we captured video to give you an idea of the magnitude of works we are talking about. Simply beautiful!

Here is the last 1/4 or so of the show. It was amazing! One funny note, the Leander fire marshall did send someone out to check on us. He sat in the backyard and enjoyed the show before talking to John. John confirmed we were safe and that he had watered the grass all day and would be watering it all down again today. Luckily, his neighbors enjoy the show and water their yards all day as well.
