Lead Me

I'd like to take a slight detour from pictures of Abby and our life to share a song and message that is really on my heart right now...
I am currently in love with a new Sanctus Real song called Lead Me. It is ironic that one of my husband's co-workers played it for him recently as well.
The role of the man of the household, according to the Bible, is really to lead the house. To be a Godly man that takes that role seriously and supports his household in that Goldy pursuit. That can get really twisted in today's world of independent women, including myself. I struggled with surrendering control to Marcus for a long time and I think a big part of that was not knowing what that really meant. I think this is a great song for the men in our lives. They need God to lead them so they can lead their homes. And we need to be real with them about what we need. In this world of blogs and facebook where we all struggle to project a happy life and be real and honest with our loved ones. It captures that struggle beautifully.
Here are the lyrics:
I look around and see my wonderful life
Almost perfect from the outside
In picture frames I see my beautiful wife
Always smiling
But on the inside, I can hear her saying...
“Lead me with strong hands
Stand up when I can't
Don't leave me hungry for love
Chasing dreams, what about us?
Show me you're willing to fight
That I'm still the love of your life
I know we call this our home
But I still feel alone”
I see their faces, look in their innocent eyes
They're just children from the outside
I'm working hard, I tell myself they'll be fine
They're independent
But on the inside, I can hear them saying...
“Lead me with strong hands
Stand up when I can't
Don't leave me hungry for love
Chasing dreams, but what about us?
Show me you're willing to fight
That I'm still the love of your life
I know we call this our home
But I still feel alone”
So Father, give me the strength
To be everything I'm called to be
Oh, Father, show me the way
To lead them
Won't You lead me?
To lead them with strong hands
To stand up when they can't
Don't want to leave them hungry for love,
Chasing things that I could give up
I'll show them I'm willing to fight
And give them the best of my life
So we can call this our home
Lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone
Father, lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone
Here is a link to see the writer share the story behind this song. He gave it all to his career and travels and came home to recharge and didn't have anything left to give his family. I think we can all relate to that at some point. Great song and message.
And, here is a video of scripture and the song.

They have some great songs! I also have fallen in love with Tenth Avenue North and some of their stuff, too. I'll have to go find this one so I can listen to it.
