Berry Sweet Day

Sweet Berry Farms opened for strawberry season on Friday and we were there the next day! Their homemade strawberry jam is our favorite and our biscuits haven't been the same since we ran out. We thought it would be great fun for Abby to enjoy a wagon ride on their pretty land. We picked about 2 pounds of strawberries. We have strawberry bread cooling now and baggies ready for our lunches next week. I love sweet strawberries dipped in vanilla pudding. It is a great low fat snack.

While we picked the berries, Abby kept leaning out of her wagon and picking the flowers! After picking all we can eat, we had fun playing peek-a-boo in the ladybugs on the farm. We skipped the goats and donkeys this year :)
Before we left, we sampled their homemade strawberry ice cream. It was wonderful- not real strong and with fresh strawberries blended in.
Abby signed and said "more" numerous times while that ice cream was in my hand!

I think she liked it!

Visit Sweet Berry Farms for details. They have hours, a map and "fresh news" on their site which updates you on if they have berries ready for picking. We'll likely go back in May to try out blackberries. Mmm, cobbler!
