As expected, Abby was a little confused by the whole process. She played along and had fun taking it all in.... and then letting it all drool back out. Both Marcus and I took a couple of turns. I love this picture. She is looking up at Marcus with concern and maybe a little trust.I honestly don't know if any of it went into her mouth. Ladies out there, help me! Is this right? Should I make it thicker? Does it go in her bottle instead of a bowl and spoon?

Nope, this is how it is at first. She'll get better. If you make it thicker she won't be able to swallow it right now. It is a little more of a lesson in pouring into a moving target. Strip her down and get ready for messy times each night for a few months! Wait until it is colored veggies!!Have fun!
At first, we put the rice in our son's bottle. They make feeder nipples with a slit (rather than a pin hole).
Just experiment with the thickness until you find a good balance between easy to feed and easy to swallow. She'll do great! :-)
You are doing it right, and you are not supposed to put it in her bottle officially. That said, I made it thicker and put it in my kids' bottles. Ha! Just keep doing what you are doing. Abby Lu is perfect!
Cora's pedi told us not to put it in a bottle because they need to get used to the concept of food can come from a spoon, too. That being said, I know tons of older kids who have had cereal from a bottle and don't still have to eat a sandwich from a bottle because they never "got the concept!!" ; )
Looks so familiar...The rice cereal was more like rice soup for us too, very runny. Connor got used to it after a couple of days, but we didn't start until he was 6 months old. Just keep trying and she'll get it eventually. (PS, she's looking SO CUTE!)

ditto to all, dr. said not to put into a bottle b/c they whole reason is to get them use to using a spoon so they can move onto to all of the good yummy make your poop turn green stuff.
It's funny...that's how I usually look after eating a meal. I don't see any problem.
Peace!

Yep, you're doing it right and yes, it's supposed to be that runny. It makes the whole experience more picture worthy if you ask me! DON'T put it in a bottle. Rice cereal has almost no calories and vitamins necessary for baby's growth; Abby's nutrition is coming from formula, therefore eating cereal is to teach baby how to eat like big people! Our pedi also told us that it could be choking hazard, so better safe than sorry. Good luck and keep those adorable pictures coming!
