Week 30: Abby Lu is Getting Bigger...

... and so am I! There is no denying I am pregnant now. Random strangers look at me and smile. Some even give the sympathetic smile of "oh honey, you look tired". I am!

Hawaii was a wonderful time to sleep in, take long naps under a palm tree and enjoy relaxing before she arrives. It also brought the harsh reality of a long plane ride home and jobs that went on while we were away. These are the times when you wish voicemail and email were not around.

I started iron pills this weekend and they have not upset my stomach. Thank you Johnna for the recommendation- you saved me! I was unable to do my GD test (an appointment is required), but will take it next Monday.

We did more work on her room this weekend which is always fun. I have a baby shower this coming weekend and then Mom and I are spending the following weekend making her curtains, personalizing her bedding (think ribbons and little yellow pom poms!) and will be organizing her closet. We start birthing classes in just 3 weeks. Wow!

from Baby Center:

Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)

ok, random advice...when you have your baby shower and you are organizing the closet DO NOT under any circumstances open the diaper boxes and put all the diapers away. Trust me on this... you might be surprised with a baby three pounds heavier than what you're doctor said it would be and then you have to take back all of the newborn diapers because they won't fit your 9 pounder (even though the box says they will, they really don't) You can always exchange the boxes for a bigger size if they are unopened. I've known too many mommies who got a little carried away and paid for it. And if anyone makes you a diaper cake, ask them what size the diapers are, you don't want to be guessing and then have a blowout by accident! You're looking great BTW!
